Looks like we’re a “local gem.” Thanks Steve!
Hey everyone, welcome to my mind. First, a little about me. I’m Steve Layman. I’m a 21 year old attending college at SUNY Oneonta for Music Industry and Communication Studies/Public Relations. I am a show promoter () and a folk/punk musician () If you need help with a central NY show, get in touch. If you want me to play your town, get in touch. Bill asked me to start writing for PMPD a few weeks ago after doing a write up about my music, and I was more than eager to jump on. I like to help bands in anyway that I can, if that means booking them a show, buying their record or writing a nice article about their live set, I’m going to do it. www.stevelayman.tumblr.comwww.myspace.com/srlbooking
Booking shows means that you have the power to bring anyone you want to your area (within reason) and have the knowhow and vision to get your friends and their friends to come see these bands. One of the larger promoters in my area once told me that “elitism is a one way ticket to the poorhouse” to which I responded “until booking shows becomes my career and each show determines whether or not I pay rent or eat, I’m going to book the fucking bands I want to see.” These are some of the “local” bands that I’ve had the privilege of working with that I’d like to tell you about if you don’t already know they exist.
Below Steve has highly recommended a few bands that you should really check out! You’d be silly not to!
